The macrodrainage work of the Tucunduba Basin, located between the neighborhoods of Guamá and Terra Firme, is one of the most important urban interventions in progress in Belém. The project includes the requalification of the Lago Verde Canal, with dredging actions, margin urbanization, containment and resettlement of families living in risk areas. In addition to combating frequent flooding, the work promises to improve the quality of life of the population and prepare the city for large events such as COP 30, which will take place in Belém in 2025. An important curiosity is that the Tucunduba Basin travels about 12 km long, cutting several populous neighborhoods of the capital of Pará. Even with the grandeur of the work, the accumulation of garbage on the channel remains one of the biggest challenges to ensure the success of the long term project.
