The Paraense Museum Emílio Goeldi (acronym MPEG, initially called Philomatic Association) popularly known as Goeldi Museum, is a public museum and scientific institution and a Brazilian Zoobotanical Park, founded in 1911 by naturalist Domingos Soares Ferreira Penna, in the Brazilian municipality of Belém (capital of Pará), linked to the Ministry of Science and Technology (since 2000, previously linked to the year 2000 CNPq). It is the first zoobotanical park in Brazil, the oldest scientific institution in the Amazon and the second museum of Brazilian natural history. It has collections of knowledge in the areas of natural and human sciences related to the Amazon, as well as promoting research and scientific studies of the natural and cultural systems of the region.
