Hello friends of the canal: We arrived in the municipality of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, located in the metropolitan region of Recife, approximately 40 kilometers south of the Pernambuco capital. Continuing our Brazil expedition facing the sea, today we unveil the beauties and peculiarities of Suape Beach, a hidden jewel near the renowned port of Suape. This place is a perfect encounter between history, tradition, lush nature and modernity. Suape beach is strategically located on the Pernambuco coast, in a sheltered cove that provides calm waters and stunning scenarios. From Recife, the route is made by BR-101, following the PE-060, a quiet route that reveals rural and coastal landscapes before reaching the destination. The proximity of the port of Suape makes access even more viable, with well -signposted roads. The name * Suape * comes from the Tupi indigenous language and means “winding path”, a reference to the corners of the estuary where the river finds the sea. The denomination holds a historical bond with the original peoples who inhabited the region and used these waters for transport and fishing. The beach is a true refuge of tranquility, protected by reefs that form natural pools, ideal for relaxing baths. The scenario is enriched by coconut trees, clear sands and an impressive view of the Rio meeting with the sea. Suape offers visitors an integration experience with nature, being an excellent point for activities such as ecological walks, kayaking and stand-up paddle walks. A few kilometers from the beach is the port of Suape, one of the largest and most modern port complexes in Brazil. Since its inauguration in the 1970s, Porto plays a crucial role in the economic development of the state of Pernambuco, being an important export and import center, as well as housing an industrial hub that generates thousands of jobs in the region. The region of Suape has a rich history that dates back to the colonial time, being part of former sugar mills that marked the Pernambuco economy. The local community, mainly formed by fishermen and port workers, keeps this historical heritage alive through festivities, typical cuisine and cultural traditions. One of the best known cultural manifestations is the *Coco de Roda *, the traditional dance of the region, which usually cheer up visitors during local festivities. Culinary is also featured, with seafood dishes, such as fresh moquecas and fish, served in community bars and restaurants. Although Suape is better known for its port, the beach and the surrounding region offer a basic structure to receive tourists, with some cuddly inns and rustic restaurants that serve regional dishes. It is recommended to visit Suape on a roundabout from Recife or Porto de Galinhas, as the tourist infrastructure is still under development. The region faces the challenge of balancing industrial progress with environmental preservation. Conservation initiatives have been implemented to protect mangroves, reefs and local biodiversity, ensuring that Suape remains a destination that combines nature and development. Suape beach, with its unique charm and rich history, is an invitation to exploration and enchantment. Whether to relax in its quiet waters, connect with the local culture or understand the dynamics of the port of Suape, the site offers unforgettable experiences that make Cabo de Santo Agostinho a mandatory point on the Pernambuco coast.
