Capoava Farm – Porto Feliz
The Fazenda Capoava is close to Porto Feliz and which was a large collaborator of the development of the region by the sugarcane industry. Around the late nineteenth century, the Brazilian imperial government wanted to encourage the creation of central sugar mills. In this way, French businessmen bought plants in Piracicaba, Porto Feliz, Villa de Raffard (Capivari), Lorena and Terra (Campos, Rio State). The cities of Capivari, Rafard, Porto Feliz and the whole region suffered strong development by planting sugar cane. The stories of these cities are concreted in mills and farms that grouped several river expeditions (monsoons). Capoava has a directly involved population of 400 people, with approximately 98 children according to reports of the last count in 2014.
